On December 25, 2012 the Institute for Middle East Strategic Studies (IMESS) in collaboration with the Turkish Asian Center for Strategic Studies (TASAM) held a joint roundtable to discuss the Iran- Turkey relations in post-Arab Revolutions’ Middle East. In this roundtable, Dr. Kayhan Barzegar

, Deputy Director of the IMESS, Dr. Süleyman Şensoy, Chairman of TASAM and Dr. Murat Bilhan, Vice-Chairman of TASAM shared their views on the afore-mentioned subject. Initially, Dr. Barzegar discussed the existing viewpoints in Iran regarding Turkey’s role in the region. Regarding the Iran-Turkey relations, he mentioned that Geo-strategic interests center “developmental approach” in the two nations’ relations. Then, he pointed out the different views of Iran and Turkey in dealing with the regional affairs. In that regard, he believes that this issue relates to their distinct bases of understanding the opportunities and challenges in the region.
